A Message from Trenton Public Schools Superintendent

 As The Trenton Literacy Movement marks ten years of unwavering partnership and impact, I am proud to reflect on what this collaboration has meant for our children, our schools, and our city. TTLM has stood shoulder‑to‑shoulder with the Trenton Public School District, ensuring that literacy is not just an academic priority, but a community promise.

For a decade, TTLM has helped us confront one of the most urgent challenges in education: making sure every child learns to read—and learns to love reading—by third grade. Their literacy intervention program, now celebrating over 200 students completing the 2025–2026 cycle, represents far more than numbers. It represents futures. It represents confidence. It represents opportunity.

From the very beginning, TTLM embraced our district’s vision and worked tirelessly with our administrators, teachers, principals, and support staff to build a system of literacy excellence. They provided the funding to bring certified educators into our after‑school programs, expanded access to high‑quality books, and created innovative partnerships that placed reading at the center of every child’s learning journey.

This partnership has shown what is possible when a community invests in its children with intention and consistency. TTLM has helped us strengthen early literacy, close achievement gaps, and give our youngest learners the foundation they need to thrive academically and socially.

On behalf of the Trenton Public School District, I extend my deepest appreciation to The Trenton Literacy Movement for ten years of service, dedication, and belief in our students. Together, we have built something powerful—and together, we will continue to ensure that every child in Trenton has the tools, the support, and the freedom that literacy provides.
